SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a method of encrypting data sent through the Internet. It ensures that even if someone will see what you sent, it will be a useless string of weird characters instead of you login, password or credit card number. Only your computer and the internet server which handles your payment are able to read this information as only they have special key to translate this string of weird characters into needed information. To check if you are protected, check if there is a little padlock icon on the address bar of your browser at the top left side of your screen.
